Some fun photographs

Every day is a fun day in Reception and so much learning takes place without the children even realising! Here is a selection of photographs from the last few weeks to show you some of the things we have been up to.

Maypole dancing in PE

This half term we are focusing on dance in PE. We have been listening to lots of different types of music and moving in different ways. This has all been leading up to our maypole dancing! Here are some great pictures of the children enjoying PE.

Warm Fuzzy Treat

The children have filled up the warm fuzzy jar again - just in time for Mrs Matthews's last day too. Well done RS! For their treat this time we had waffles, with a choice of yummy toppings, with a drink of milk whilst we watched The Gruffalo.
Mrs Matthews was overwhelmed by all of the gifts she received and it was an emotional day all round. I'm sure she will keep in touch but for now we say goodbye and wish her good luck for Monday at her new school!

Chicks!

We have 3 baby chicks! The first one hatched on Tuesday evening and is called Fluffy, the second hatched on Wednesday morning and is called Tweety and the third hatched this morning and as it is May the 4th we thought a Star Wars name was quite appropriate so it's name is Obi.  The children have loved every minute of the experience so far and are constantly glued to the incubator or the brooder pen watching every move the chicks make. If you would like to come and see the chicks you are more than welcome to pop in after home time tomorrow.  This morning all of the children got to hold a chick! Here are some pictures.

Some sad news

I am very sorry to have to write this post. Unfortunately, this week is going to be Mrs Matthews's last week at Stanley. We had hoped that she would be staying with us at least until the end of the year but due to unforeseen circumstances she has had to look for employment elsewhere. The children have been told this morning, so we can make the most of our last week together. She will be missed very much by the children and by me but we do wish her good luck in her new job.
