Baking bread and a spring walk

We have had a very busy day today! This week we are thinking about the story of the Little Red Hen so this morning we made our own bread and baked it in the classroom. We watched how the dough grew when we left it in the bowl and then it grew again when we made it into the loaf shape. After lunch when it was cooked we all had a little taste. They children thought it was very yummy! 

After eating all of the bread we decided to go for a spring walk as the weather was so nice. We had a look around the school grounds for signs of Spring and we found lots! There were crocuses, daffodils and daisies. We found buds on the trees and tiny blossom flowers too. We even saw two seagulls and the children thought they might be getting ready to make a nest. We managed to find two nests in the trees! We also had a peek at the trees we planted a few months ago and we could see some little bits of green starting to appear on them.

Book day!

First of all I would like to say how fabulous all of the children's costumes are today and thank you to everyone who helped to make and prepare them! We have had a wonderful day full of fun and excitement and the children have all written about the character they have dressed up as.

Junk modelling request

As you may have noticed from all of the models that the children bring home, they love junk modelling! However, I am running out of supplies. If you have any of these things at home and wouldn't mind sending them to school with your child I would appreciate your help. Thank you!

Book swap

On Thursday we will be holding a book swap in school. If your child wants to take part in this they can do. Please bring in one or two books that are in good condition and there will be a chance for your child to swap the books for a different one to take home. Please note that the books brought in will not be returned to your child as another child may have chosen it as their swap.

Vegetable soup

Thank you for all of the vegetables that were sent in this week. The children have loved cooking and eating the vegetable soup.

Well done to our superstar this week who was chosen for being so brave in PE. Even though she was a little bit nervous, she took her time and persevered on the high benches.
